Give Credit Where Credit Is Due

I was having a pretty normal day recently, interacting with my Crew and keeping trying to keep up with my housework. I don't even remember the particulars of the situation, I only remember one of the girls taking credit for something I (emphasis on the "I") had done. It was silly, but it rubbed me the wrong way. I felt myself swelling up with indignation, and then it was like the Lord was saying to me, "How often do you take credit for MY work?" And I immediately began to think of times when I had-- at least in my own mind-- taken credit for something that the Lord had done. I say I believe that the only good that comes from me doesn't really come FROM ME, but from the Holy Spirit at work in me... But I really WANT it to be me! I want there to be something praiseworthy in ME. And so I was convicted and challenged to "give credit where credit is due".

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! "For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?" "Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?" For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.
Romans 11:33-36

Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. And now we thank you, our God, and praise your glorious name. "But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able thus to offer willingly? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.
1 Chronicles 29:11-14

"Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created."
Revelation 4:11
