If you want something done right...

I'm trying to teach my Crew to clean the kitchen. One is responsible to clear the table after meals, two unload the dishwasher, and one is responsible to load everything that can be washed into the dishwasher. And they rotate through the chores. But I take responsibility for all the pots and pans. This leads to something of a problem on a regular basis. With only one sink, and six people making dirty dishes, it doesn't take long for our counter to overflow into the sink. This morning as I was trying to catch up on the pots and pans, and noticing all the dirty counter, (My children forget to wipe down the counters after the dishwasher is loaded.) I had the thought, "If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself." I hope this will not always be the case with my Crew-- which is one of the reasons that they are responsible for portions of it now...

In the next moment, I was thinking of Christ. God has wanted a repaired relationship with mankind ever since Adam sinned. But He knew that for that to happen, He'd have to do it Himself. Sinful people simply ARE NOT capable of fixing our broken relationship with Him. So God the Son became a man. Jesus Christ, the God-Man, lived a perfect life, fulfilling the law in our place. Then He died, absorbing all the righteous wrath of God against our sin. God got the job done right, and because of that, we can have fellowship with Him through Jesus the Savior! That's good news!

The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Genesis 6:5

To the choirmaster. Of David. The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none who does good. The LORD looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one.
Psalms 14:1-3

Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. "Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.
John 5:24-25

Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham. Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
Hebrews 2:14-18

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
Romans 8:1-4
